In his address, “Old-Fashioned Values,” Michael discussed the time-honored values exhibited by the inductees who he had interviewed for his book, Banking in Oklahoma, 1907-2000.

Lecture, National Society of Arts and Letters, Charlottesville, Virginia In his remarks to members of Charlottesville’s chapter of the NSAL, Michael discussed the book business as a melding of art and business. Michael is a founder and former president of Council Oak Books, a trade publishing company in Tulsa. His presentation was a cautionary tale for anyone trying to make money in the arts who neglects the nuts and bolts of operating a business.

Oklahoma Bankers Association Annual Luncheon and Bankers Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Oklahoma History Center, Oklahoma City Michael was the keynote speaker. His presentation, “Recording and Honoring Bank History,” gave his listeners insight into the research that went into his two books on state banking history, Banking in Oklahoma before Statehood and Banking in Oklahoma, 1907-2000.
